Giving Back: Supporting the Professional Cricketers’ Trust
In 2021, Alan Igglesden—known to many as “Iggy”—showed incredible determination as he completed the Professional Cricketers’ Trust’s 5k May challenge while receiving end-of-life care.
Supported by his wife Liz, daughter Beth, and former teammate Laurie Potter, Alan travelled along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal near his home in Keighley on his mobility scooter, with his family each taking part alongside him—walking, running and cycling together.
Just a week earlier, it had been shared that Alan was in end-of-life care following two major strokes and the progression of his brain tumour. Despite this, the family chose not only to take part, but to do so in support of the charity that had stood by them throughout.
A Lasting Impact
The Professional Cricketers’ Trust provided invaluable support to Alan and his family during the most difficult time of their lives. Their care, compassion and guidance made a real difference—something that will never be forgotten.
Alan’s story resonated deeply across the cricketing community, with the #5ferIggy campaign raising more than £13,000 to support the Trust’s work.
Giving Back
In recognition of the support Alan received, Iggy’s Fund is proud to have donated £5,000 to the Professional Cricketers’ Trust.
This contribution is a way of saying thank you—and of ensuring that other players and families facing similar challenges can access the same level of care and support.
Continuing Iggy’s Legacy
Alan’s story is one of resilience, togetherness and generosity in the face of adversity.
Through Iggy’s Fund, that legacy lives on—supporting others, giving back, and making a difference when it matters most.
